Builder expectation

You will not only run demos and hand off requirements. You are expected to make Bluefyn work inside each customer's reality: scope the solution, untangle and integrate their data, configure the contracts, rules, and agents, ship the missing pieces yourself, and stay accountable until the customer sees verified numbers in production.

The role

You will be part of Bluefyn's forward deployed AI engineer team, embedded with customers from technical scoping through pilot to production. Everyone wants an AI platform that works by itself, but in reality someone technical has to stand next to the customer and make it real. That is this role: a hands-on builder position at the seam of sales, product, and engineering, not a demo-and-handoff position. The hardest part of every deployment is the data. Customers arrive with transactions, contracts, statements, and invoices spread across providers, systems, and formats, and every customer is messy in its own way. You need to know the product and the business cold, learn each customer's infrastructure and data models fast, and find the fastest safe way to integrate. As the company grows, you will define the forward deployed function, hire the team, and lead it while remaining hands-on and embedded with customers.

What you'll do

  • Own the technical side of the sale. Join scoping calls with prospects, answer the hard questions about data, integrations, security, and calculations, demonstrate feasibility, and design the pilot so it can succeed.
  • Deploy Bluefyn into the customer's reality. Ingest their transactions, contracts, provider statements, and invoices from whatever systems and formats they live in, map them into the platform, and configure billing rules, benchmarks, and controls for their commercial setup. Speed matters: the pilot starts when the data flows.
  • Ship the missing pieces. When a deployment needs something the product does not yet have, build it: parsers, scripts, agent configurations, and small product changes, opened as pull requests and owned through release.
  • Make the AI work. Configure, prompt, evaluate, and harden Bluefyn's agents for each customer's documents, data, and workflows, with permissions, human approvals, and audit trails in place.
  • Prove value with the customer's numbers. Define success criteria with Sales up front, track quality and accuracy once live, and turn pilot results into evidence a CFO accepts.
  • Be the customer's technical counterpart. Stay the trusted technical advisor from first call through onboarding and expansion, credible with the CFO and with their engineers.
  • Be the voice of the customer. Turn deployment friction into product feedback: what should become configuration, what should become product, and what should never be manual again.
  • Build the future function. Turn each deployment into playbooks, templates, and tooling that make the next one faster, then hire, mentor, and lead the FDE team as Bluefyn scales.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience. Software, data, solutions, or ML engineering, with meaningful time deploying technical products into customer environments, ideally in fintech, payments, or B2B software for finance teams.
  • Real LLM and agent craft. You have built with LLM APIs, prompting, evaluation, and agentic workflows in production, not just demos, you already run coding agents for real work, and you know where automation must stop and human judgment must take over.
  • Integration and data competence. You are strong with APIs, webhooks, SQL, and Python or TypeScript, you have pulled clean, reliable data out of messy real-world exports, and you can learn an unfamiliar stack and data model in days. You can debug across systems you did not build.
  • Customer-facing confidence. You can explain complex technical concepts to CFOs and finance operations leaders, and hold your own with their engineers.
  • Practical fintech understanding. You know transaction lifecycles, pricing, fees, FX, and billing well enough to hold a credible conversation with a finance leader. Deep payments expertise is not required on day one, but the ambition to build it is.
  • Self-directed delivery. You take ownership of a deployment end to end, manage the project and the stakeholders, and drive it to done with minimal supervision.
  • High ownership and startup range. You design your own process, close loops, communicate risk clearly, and are comfortable in a fast-moving, venture-funded stealth startup with broad ownership and limited process.

Nice to have

  • Forward deployed or solutions experience. FDE, solutions architecture, sales engineering, or professional services in enterprise software.
  • Payments domain depth. You understand interchange, scheme fees, MSAs, FX margin, or provider statements well enough to speak the buyer's language.
  • Onboarding automation experience. You have turned bespoke customer implementations into repeatable parsers, mappers, and templates.
  • Project management experience. You have run implementations with timelines, stakeholders, and dependencies across companies.
  • Early leadership experience. You have mentored engineers and can grow into formal team leadership.

Why this role

  • A true founding seat. Define how Bluefyn deploys and proves itself from the beginning, with a clear path to FDE Lead as the company and team expand.
  • Deployment is credibility work. Finance teams do not trust claims, they trust verified numbers in their own data. You are the person who gets them there, and the way Bluefyn deploys is part of what customers are buying.
  • Small senior team. Work directly with the founders and engineers, with broad ownership and minimal bureaucracy.
