Builder expectation

You will not only build models and write analyses. You are expected to turn provider contracts and pricing schedules into live billing and verification logic inside Bluefyn, configure it yourself with AI tools, prove the numbers against the customer's own transaction data, and stay accountable until the client trusts the result.

The role

You will be Bluefyn's first financial analyst, the person who speaks finance on both sides of the product. Inside, you analyze provider pricing, model transaction economics, and define what the product needs to calculate. Outside, you sit with clients as someone who reads a fee schedule the way they do, set up their billing, and advise them on their P&L. This is a hands-on builder role, not a reporting seat. As Bluefyn grows, you will build provider pricing and transaction-level P&L into a domain you own, with a path toward product ownership or a Partner seat.

What you'll do

  • Analyze provider pricing. Decode MSAs, pricing schedules, interchange and scheme fees, FX markups, and provider invoices. Model what a client should be paying and find where they are not.
  • Set up billing and pricing logic. Translate a customer's commercial terms into billing configurations and verification rules inside Bluefyn, configure them yourself, and prove they produce the right invoice from the customer's own transaction data.
  • Analyze transaction-level P&L. Build cost, revenue, and margin views by transaction, corridor, provider, and product. Find the leaks and the levers, and turn them into clear recommendations.
  • Advise clients. Join discovery, onboarding, and reviews as the person who speaks finance. Walk CFOs and controllers through the numbers, answer the hard questions, and build the trust that converts pilots.
  • Help define product capabilities. Turn what you learn from pricing and client work into requirements the PM and engineers can build from: calculation scenarios, edge cases, reference data, and expected outputs.
  • Validate the numbers. Work with Product, Engineering, and QA to independently verify fee, FX, billing, and margin calculations against reference scenarios before they reach a client.
  • Be AI-native. Use agents for contract extraction, modeling, data investigation, and report drafting. You remain responsible for every number before it reaches a client or a decision.
  • Build the future function. Turn pricing knowledge into reusable models, benchmarks, and playbooks that live in the product, then help hire the next analysts.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years in a quantitative finance role. FP&A, pricing, revenue assurance, transaction banking, payments finance, consulting, or Big Four, with real exposure to fees, FX, and transaction-level data.
  • Fluency in provider economics, or the ambition to build it. You understand how a PSP, bank, or FX provider actually charges: interchange, scheme fees, markups, tiers, minimums, and the gap between contract and invoice. Deep payments expertise is not required on day one.
  • Strong modeling and data skills. Expert spreadsheets, practical SQL, comfort with large transaction datasets, and you never present a number you cannot trace.
  • Business analyst instincts. You can take a messy commercial setup, write down precisely how it should be calculated, and hand it to engineers without interpretation gaps.
  • Customer-facing confidence. You can hold a room of CFOs, controllers, and finance operations leaders, and explain a variance calmly when challenged.
  • An AI-native working style. You already use AI and agentic tools for substantive work and know how to validate their output.
  • High ownership and startup range. Small inconsistencies bother you until you understand the cause, and you are comfortable in a fast-moving, venture-funded stealth startup with broad ownership and limited process.

Nice to have

  • Payments domain depth. Interchange, scheme fees, MSAs, FX margin, provider statements, or settlement files.
  • Billing systems experience. Usage-based or transaction-based billing, invoicing, or revenue recognition.
  • Audit or controls exposure. Revenue assurance, reconciliation, or building the evidence an auditor accepts.
  • Client advisory experience. Consulting or customer-facing finance work.
  • Domain-to-product experience. You have been the finance source for an internal build before.

Why this role

  • A true founding seat. Define how Bluefyn reads pricing and proves the numbers from the beginning, with a path toward product ownership or a Partner seat.
  • Finance is the product's credibility. Our customers verify numbers for a living. The analyses you deliver and the billing you set up are the reason they trust the platform, and every pricing model you build becomes a control that runs on every transaction.
  • Small senior team. Work directly with the founders and engineers, with broad ownership and minimal bureaucracy.
